I just sent an email note to all 312 folks who are registered, the 13 who are pending, and the 66 on the waitlist. If you’re interested in participating this year and did NOT get an email, please check your spam folder.
Here’s a summary and an update:
Changes / Withdrawals
In past years, some folks have signed up for the Shuffle and not shown up. This means that seats on the buses go empty, aid station supplies go to waste, and people who would like to participate can’t because the event is full. Your name will show up in the results as DNS (Did Not Start… aka ‘the Wall of Shame’), and there will be restrictions on how you can sign up in the future. If you can’t make it, please let us know by withdrawing.
Instructions for how to do this (or to change anything else like your free bus registration, your emergency contact, your estimated finish time, etc.) on the FAQ section of this website under “How do I withdraw or change my information?” Note: If you have to withdraw, please don’t wait until the last minute as this causes the same negative consequences as a DNS.
Pending
Several people have withdrawn (thank you!) and thus allowed us to invite folks from the waitlist to participate. If you were one of the lucky 30 to get the invitation earlier this week, you have until Sunday 5 April to complete your registration and pay the $10 reg fee. If you don’t do this, we assume you’ve lost interest and will pass the invitation along to the next person on the waitlist.
Waitlist
The waitlist is now at 66. We will reconcile the list in about a week, and once more the week before the Shuffle. Understood that being on the waitlist makes it very difficult to plan. What are your chances of getting in? It depends on how many people withdraw and how many people who get the invitation to register decide to take the opportunity.
Getting to the Start
To make the start area safe for everyone, please plan to take one of our free buses to the start. They will be leaving the Shinglemill from about 07:00 to 08:15. All sign-in and pick-up of number bibs is at the Shinglemill. The sign-in table will open at 06:45 and close when the last bus leaves. If you have a drop bag, you can leave it at the sign-in table. If you plan to get a ride to Malaspina Road and walk to the start, you can have a friend pick up your number.
Training Events
Twenty-seven (27) kilometers is a long way to Shuffle! If you live in the qathet area or are just passing through, consider joining the free training groups on Saturday mornings at 09:00. Details: https://www.marathonshuffle.com/training-events/
Facebook Event Page
Did you know that there’s a Facebook page specifically for the 2026 Shuffle? Here are some reasons why you might want to check it out:
- find like-minded people to train with
- find information about the latest trail conditions on the Shuffle route
- share your thoughts about the trail (e.g. where trees have fallen so we can clear them)
- share your memories and photos about past Shuffles
- find out the latest about the Shuffle from the organizers
- ask others about how to plan your trip and prepare for your Shuffle
If you click “Going” you’ll get all updates: https://www.facebook.com/events/1507867763524097
‘Hope your training is going well. We look forward to seeing you at the start!
