If you’ve ever participated, we trust you will agree that the Marathon Shuffle is a world-class sweet deal.

Did you know that most of the materials needed for bridges, huts, and outhouses need to be delivered by a helicopter and that costs $2,000 – $7,000 per drop? Were you aware that the cost of maintaining chainsaws alone costs more than $2,500 per year?

If you feel guilty about taking advantage of the generosity of the people and businesses from qathet who chip in to make the event possible… don’t. They just want you to have a fun day on the Sunshine Coast Trail.

If you could find it in your heart to chip in a little something toward the upkeep of the trail, however, qPAWS can continue to enhance the Sunshine Coast Trail and the Marathon Shuffle might remain free.

qPAWS (qathet Parks And Wilderness Society) is a registered not-for-profit organization in British Columbia that, since 1992, has built and maintained the Sunshine Coast Trail. qPAWS was established by a small group of outdoor enthusiasts to protect threatened old-growth forests on the Upper Sunshine Coast and to build trails linking these areas. The Marathon Shuffle was started in 1994 by qPAWS.

qPAWS can accept donations in any of the following ways:

  • Credit card or Visa debit card. Please use our PayPal link (below).
  • E-transfer. Address to [email protected]. We’re set up for auto-deposit, so there’s no need for a secret word.
  • Cheque. Please make it out to qPAWS and mail it to: Box 345, Powell River, BC, V8A 5C2.
